Creekside Customs quarter 3 "SPG" Now at the Creek

Creekside Customs quarter 3 "SPG" Now at the Creek

Creekside Cigar Co. is proud to introduce SPG 1947, the Quarter 3 release in the Creekside Customs series. Created in honor of the late father of longtime Creekside lounge member and dear friend Mike G., SPG 1947 carries his father’s initials and birth year in a cigar designed to be shared, remembered, and enjoyed.

Each Creekside Custom is a limited, private-label release developed in an ultra-small batch. SPG 1947 is a medium-plus robusto with a classic, Cuban-inspired profile: balanced enough to reward slow smoking, yet substantial enough to offer depth from first light through the final inch. It will be available on September 10th while the limited production lasts.

A Personal Creekside Custom

SPG 1947 is more than a new release; it is a tribute.

The initials “SPG” honor Mike G.’s father, while “1947” recognizes the year he was born. The project reflects the kind of connection that makes the Creekside lounge special: a community built around friendship, conversation, shared milestones, and the moments that deserve to be remembered.

Naming this quarter’s Custom for Mike’s father makes the release deeply personal, but its purpose is universal. Cigars have always had a way of creating space, to slow down, tell stories, celebrate a life, and sit with the people who matter. SPG 1947 is intended to be enjoyed in that spirit.

The Blend

SPG 1947 was blended and rolled with Hostos Fernandez Quesada at Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The finished cigar is a hearty robusto built around Ecuadorian Habano from wrapper to binder, with Criollo ’98 and a measured dose of ligero in the filler.

The cigar wears a rich, chocolate-colored Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a noticeable natural oiliness. Its construction and blend were designed for a longer, unhurried experience, one that develops gradually rather than overwhelming the palate early.

Flavor Profile

The SPG 1947 profile is intentionally Cubanesque: classic, toasty, creamy, and balanced, with enough brightness and spice to keep every third interesting.

From the opening, expect toasty sweetness and milk chocolate, followed by citrus zest and a floral lift. As the cigar settles in, creaminess, toasted cedar, and deeper woody notes build through the core. Toasted almond and marzipan add a rounded, confectionary character, while the ligero supplies a controlled peppery spice that gives the blend structure without taking over.

  • Toasty sweetness and milk chocolate

  • Bright citrus zest and floral notes

  • Creamy texture with toasted cedar and wood

  • Toasted almond moving toward marzipan

  • A measured, lingering spice from ligero

The result is a medium-plus cigar that feels traditional in its balance but never static. It is flavorful and substantial without being overly heavy—especially well suited to a relaxed evening in the lounge, a meaningful conversation, or a quiet moment of reflection.

From Sample To Release

The SPG 1947 project began in June 2025, when we started working through the blend concept with Tabacalera La Isla. Initial samples returned from Hostos in August 2025, providing the opportunity to refine and confirm the final direction of the cigar.

Production cigars were rolled in February 2026. By the time SPG 1947 reaches the shop, they will have received approximately six and a half months of age—time that has allowed the Habano character, Criollo ’98, and ligero to come together into a more integrated, balanced smoke.

Available on September 10th in store and Online

SPG 1947 goes live on September 10th as our Quarter 3 Custom release and will be sold in multi-packs of the same blend. With an ultra-small production run, availability will be limited.

For smokers who enjoy a medium-plus robusto with classic Cuban-inspired character: chocolate, cedar, cream, citrus brightness, almond sweetness, and just enough spice—SPG 1947 is a release worth experiencing before it is gone.

More importantly, it is a cigar with a story. We are honored to share it with Mike, his family, and the Creekside community.

Go enjoy this one, it's special.

Peace,

CP
