Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro
Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa
Filler: Nicaraguan Jalapa, Estelí, and Medio Tiempo
Origin: Nicaragua
Size: Robusto — (5.2 x 48)

Griff & Dave Vanguard is a modern Nicaraguan robusto built with classic craft, serious tobacco, and plenty of depth. Created by longtime friends Griff Howie and Dave Imber, Vanguard brings a dark, oily Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper around a rich Nicaraguan blend highlighted by the rare medio tiempo leaf—delivering a dense, layered smoking experience with a smooth, deliberate progression.

Hand-rolled at La Corona Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, this compact robusto uses Nicaraguan tobaccos from the Jalapa and Estelí regions. The addition of medio tiempo provides extra richness, earthy complexity, and strength, while the old-school closed foot creates a more concentrated and flavorful opening.

Expect notes of dark cocoa, roasted coffee, rye bread, earth, peppercorn, and wood, balanced by subtle sweetness beneath the spice. The result is a medium-full cigar with a bold yet polished profile—full of character without sacrificing refinement.

Vanguard is an excellent choice for smokers who enjoy dark-wrapper Nicaraguan cigars with espresso, cocoa, earth, and pepper at the center of the experience. It is bold enough for the experienced palate, yet balanced enough to reward a slow, attentive smoke.
