Warped Cloud Hopper Black: Now at the Creek

Warped Cloud Hopper Black: Now at the Creek

One of Warped's most-loved blends just went dark. Cloud Hopper Black is officially on our shelves in both the No. 53 and the No. 485, and we've been waiting for this one.

MAINEVILLE, OH: Creekside Cigar Co. now carries Warped Cloud Hopper Black, the newest addition to the Cloud Hopper line from Warped Cigars. It's available now in two sizes, the No. 53 Corona (5.25 x 42) and the No. 485 Robusto (5 x 48), in the lounge and online at creeksidecigarco.com.

Cloud Hopper has been a Creekside staple for a long time. It's the cigar we hand to people who want something easy to love without giving up any flavor. So when Warped announced a new Cloud Hopper with a completely different wrapper and a new factory, we made sure it landed at the Creek.

What is Cloud Hopper?

Cloud Hopper started in 2017 as a collaboration between Warped founder Kyle Gellis and his younger brother, Devin. The name is a nod to all the time the two of them spend traveling. The original is a Nicaraguan puro made with Aganorsa tobacco at the TABSA factory in Estelí. It's built around a shade-grown Jalapa Corojo '99 wrapper, with Corojo '99 and Criollo '98 inside.

It's also no stranger to the spotlight. Cigar Aficionado named the Cloud Hopper No. 53 its No. 11 Cigar of the Year in 2021, with a 93 rating.

What makes Cloud Hopper Black different?

Cloud Hopper Black takes the Cloud Hopper name in a new direction. Three things change:

  • The wrapper: Mexican San Andrés replaces the Corojo '99. San Andrés is known for its dark complexion and naturally rich character, which is where the "Black" comes from.
  • The factory: Cloud Hopper Black is rolled at NACSA in Estelí, the manufacturing arm of the Oliva family, not at TABSA. It's the same factory behind the Dapper lineup we just brought in.
  • The profile: the San Andrés wrapper adds a deeper, earthier layer on top of a Nicaraguan core, while keeping the medium strength that makes Cloud Hopper so easy to reach for.

The blend

  • Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés
  • Binder: Nicaraguan
  • Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Origin: Estelí, Nicaragua
  • Factory: NACSA
  • Strength: Medium

The sizes at Creekside

Cloud Hopper Black No. 53 (Corona, 5.25 x 42)

The No. 53 is the size that put Cloud Hopper on the map. The slimmer ring gauge puts the wrapper front and center, which makes it the best way to taste what San Andrés brings to this blend. If you only try one, start here.

Cloud Hopper Black No. 485 (Robusto, 5 x 48)

The No. 485 gives you a little more of everything. The wider ring gauge brings more of the Nicaraguan filler into the mix for a rounder, fuller-feeling smoke and a little extra time with it. Available as a single, a 5-pack or a box of 25.
