The Romacraft Cigar Sampler is the fastest way to understand what Skip Martin and Michael Rosales have built. RoMa Craft Tobac is a boutique house founded on a "three T's" philosophy of talent, time and tobacco, with a portfolio running from Intemperance and CroMagnon to Neanderthal, Baka and Wunder|Lust. It is aimed at the smoker who wants to see how one blender approaches wildly different profiles.
Everything RoMa Craft makes is rolled at Fabrica de Tabacos NicaSueno S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua, using tobaccos from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Cameroon, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. A RoMa Craft sampler typically favors that range of wrappers: U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf, Ecuadorian Connecticut, Brazilian Arapiraca, Ecuadorian Habano and Mexican San Andres maduro. Flavors follow, from nutty and peppery to cedar and chili spice to mocha and fruit sweetness, with strength spanning mellow-to-medium up to full.
Consider it a guided tour of a modern boutique classic, and an easy gift for the friend with strong opinions about tobacco. Work through it slowly and you will know which RoMa Craft line deserves a permanent spot in your humidor.
