The Illusione One Off +53 Super Robusto is an all-Nicaraguan blend rolled at Aganorsa Leaf's TABSA factory in Estelí, and it carries the pedigree to match. Dion Giolito acquired the cult OneOff brand in 2017 and relaunched it in 2018, with the +53 — named for Cuba's telephone country code — built as a separately blended, higher-tier brand within a brand. The 5 3/4 x 48 Super Robusto is the elegant middle ground of the line: enough length for the blend to unfold, enough ring gauge to stay medium-bodied and composed.
Cedar and wood set the tone from the first inches, layered with cinnamon, cream and a soft floral note that gives the smoke real lift. Cocoa, nuts and buttered bread fill out the center, while black pepper spice and a bright citrus sweetness keep the finish clean rather than heavy.
This one rewards patience, so save it for a quiet evening when you can give it the attention it deserves — it pairs beautifully with an aged rum or a cup of black coffee. Cigar Aficionado named the Super Robusto its No. 23 cigar of 2018 with a 92 rating, and it has earned that reputation honestly. If you appreciate premium Aganorsa tobacco with a refined, layered personality, this belongs in your humidor.
