Factory: Plasencia Cigars S.A., Estelí, Nicaragua
Tasting notes: Pepper, chocolate, cream, earth, cedar, espresso, citrus
Crux Guild is one of the brand's top-selling regular lines, and the Toro Extra Marblehead is the version to grab. It's a 6 1/2 x 52 box-pressed cigar with Crux's Marblehead cap: a short, steep taper that ends flat at the head, close to a 109-style cap. Of all the Guild sizes, it's the only one with both the box press and the Marblehead cap
It's handmade at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. The blend is a chocolate-brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over aged Nicaraguan binder and filler. The wrapper has a light sheen of oil and some darker marbling, and the square press makes for a firm, even draw in your hand.
Pepper and dark chocolate come first. They settle into cream, earth and cedar, and espresso and citrus show up later in the smoke. It's a medium-to-full cigar with a lot of depth, and it rewards you for slowing down.
