The Crux Limitada PB5 is the brand's limited-edition showpiece, built around a rare, long-aged Esteli-grown "Enganoso" wrapper that Crux secured years before the cigar's 2016 debut. Beneath it sits a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a filler blend drawing on five different Dominican and Nicaraguan leaves, all rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Esteli. Presented as a Cuban box-pressed 5 3/4 x 54 Toro Extra, this is a full-bodied cigar from the first light.
A cayenne and red pepper blast opens things up, quickly joined by bold oak and cedar. Charred meat and hickory smoke define the middle, with a musky, barnyard character and floral notes adding complexity. Cream, dry hazelnut, maple syrup, and raisin sweetness balance the power, and earth, coffee, and cocoa close it out with citrus rind on the finish.
The Limitada program is capped at 1,000 boxes per year, so these are genuinely hard to come by. Save it for a night when you can sit with a full-bodied cigar and a serious pour of bourbon or aged rum. When PB5 lands, it does not stay long, so do not wait on this one.
