Description

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Origin: Nicaragua
Size: 6 1/4" x 52 Toro

The Crux Epicure Habano Toro is a Nicaraguan puro wrapped in a Habano seco priming, a first for the Crux portfolio, over Nicaraguan binder and filler. Made with the Plasencia family in Esteli and shipped in the summer of 2023, it completed the Epicure trifecta alongside the Connecticut and Maduro blends. The 6 1/4 x 52 Toro is a smooth, medium-bodied cigar with unusual finesse for a Nicaraguan puro.

Butterscotch taffy and light caramel greet you first, followed by sweet cream and creamy cappuccino. Citrus and juicy floral notes lift the middle, joined by sage, thyme, and other baking herbs, while white pepper sparks the retrohale. Browned butter, toffee, nutmeg, clove, and chestnut fill the back half, closing on macadamia nut and clean cedar.

Cigar Dojo named it the No. 4 Cigar of the Year for 2023, and one smoke explains why. It suits the smoker chasing complexity and sweetness over strength, and it shines in the morning with coffee or in the afternoon with a light rum. If you have only smoked the Connecticut and Maduro, the Habano is the one to try next.
