Description
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Deflorada
Binder: Ecuadorian Habano 2000 and Brazilian Arapiraca
Filler: Nicaraguan
Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 5 5/8" x 46 Corona Gorda
The Warped Isla del Cocodrilo Corona Gorda is the smaller of the two vitolas Kyle Gellis released at the 2024 PCA show, built around an Ecuadorian Habano Deflorada wrapper, a dual binder of Ecuadorian Habano 2000 and Brazilian Arapiraca, and Nicaraguan filler. Made at Tabacalera La iSLA in Santiago, Dominican Republic, this medium-bodied three-country blend comes in a trim 5 5/8 x 46 that tightens the focus of the flavors.
Cedar and earth open the cigar, followed by dried fruit, cream, and soft leather. Vanilla threads through the middle, oak grows steadily in the back half, and a touch of spice sharpens the finish. It is a smooth, well-mannered smoke with more going on than the medium body suggests.
This is the pick for smokers who like a corona gorda's elegance and want an hour-long cigar rather than an evening-long one. It works beautifully alongside coffee in the late afternoon or a light whiskey after dinner. Offered in 15-count boxes from a limited release, so we recommend stocking up while it lasts.
